This is village house, which is part of the medieval wall that encloses the historic center of Ficulle, Umbria. Ficulle is on the old Via Cassia and was an important stop along the old road to Rome. It became part of the Papal states in the 1400's. Today it has 1700 inhabitant and lively mix of restaurants, coffee bars, and stores.
The home has a shared entry hall with two neighbors and a private door just a few steps up from the street level. On this floor are a fully equipped modern kitchen, living room with ancient limestone fireplace, and dining room. These rooms still have their original medieval beams and antique terra cotta flooring. A few steps up from the living room is the panoramic terrace which is very spacious and offers views of Mount Cetona and beyond to Mount Amiata over the Val di Chiana in one direction and over a green valley full of olive groves, vineyards, and old growth trees in the other.
The second level contains two bedrooms separated by a sitting room with another fireplace. There are two modern baths on this level. The third level is reached from the sitting room has a loft area and private bedroom and a full bath. The ceilings slope on this floor so it does require some ducking at certain points. This floor is best suited to children.
There are two flat screen TVs, WiFi, air conditioning, and combination washer/dryer. Parking is available in a public square just a few meters away. A keyholder can meet guests and housekeeping is included weekly.
